Sam Houston Boat Tour
October 20 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pmFree
Come aboard for a one-of-a-kind, waterborne voyage that provides a unique and educational introduction to the Houston Ship Channel, home to one of the busiest and most diverse ports in the world. Port Houston’s free, public tour provides individuals and groups a fantastic opportunity to experience, first-hand, one of the region’s greatest economic contributors.
Named after the legendary military commander who led the fight for Texas independence from Mexico and later statehood, the M/V Sam Houston has been operating as Port Houston’s public tour vessel since its inaugural voyage on July 30, 1958. This free service offers a leisurely, 90-minute round-trip, educational tour along the Houston Ship Channel. Individuals and groups are invited to learn more about the port and maritime industry through this enjoyable tour.
Embarking from the port’s Sam Houston Landing, you can enjoy passing views of international cargo vessels and operations from the port’s Turning Basin Terminal to Washburn Tunnel. The 95-ft. vessel holds up to 100 passengers and features air-conditioned, lounge seating, as well as standing room outside on the boat’s deck.
We made a group reservation for 20 people, so you don’t need to make your own. We will send out an email to those who are registered closer to the tour date.
We’ll select a restaurant in the area to go to after the tour for those that want to continue with drinks and dinner. … More details to come.
